SALTO Cultural diversity is currently accepting applications for an intern to assist with specific Roma projects within the 2008 Year of Intercultural Dialogue.

This is the first time that SALTO Cultural Diversity has officially launched a call for an intern, although we have hosted some short term work placements over the past 3 years. The intern will be working together with the support of the small SALTO team, based in the British Council offices in London. They would be responsible for two projects, managing the whole process of design, preparation, implementation, reporting and follow-up.

This 5 month internship would give the opportunity to work on an international level, directly under contract to the European Commission. There would be an opportunity to gain experience within the British Council, as a worldwide cultural organisation, and to understand from the inside how the SALTO Resource Centres and their associated Agencies link. The results of the intern's project will impact directly on a European-wide audience.

The internship will include the following tasks:

• Organisation and implementation of an international inter-agency consultation seminar to assess needs with relation to work with Roma communities
• Taking the main proposals from the needs assessment meeting, the intern will take responsibility for developing and delivering a training project with an aim to increase the inclusion, involvement and acceptance of Roma communities within the Youth in Action programme
• As a horizontal task, the intern will be responsible for managing a budget to develop a positive Roma PR campaign for mainstream audiences to increase awareness and overcome stereotypes
• Support other SALTO programme work as needed

A monthly stipend of €1000 will be paid to cover all board,accommodation and local travel costs.
