“OUR Belarus” Internet-Game
Regulations
General Information
“OUR-Belarus” Internet-Game is organized and held by Youth International Education Club “NEWLINE”, iEARN-Belarus (International Education and Resource Network in Belarus) together with “World We Live In” National Internet-Project and Internet Access and Training Program – IATP.
“OUR-Belarus” Internet Game was worked out on the basis idea of “To Join Nations” of “It's Our Time” online games project. “It's Our Time” – is an annual global project for secondary schools initiated by ASPnet (UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network).
“OUR-Belarus” Internet-Game is an opportunity for all its participants (school and university students, teachers, and other young Internet-users) to get a very broad and multi-sided overview of Belarus as a country valuable either in historical or cultural regard not only to itself, but in the context of European and world cultures and civilizations.
“OUR-Belarus” National Internet-Game was first held in March, 2004 within the Spring Debating Camp for “World We Live In” project participants (http://springcamp.iatp.by)

Theme
Author of the idea and technology of “OUR-Belarus” Internet Game is Youth Educational Club “New Line” (www.newlineclub.net). The concept of the game is based on introduction of Belarus as one of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe the frontier of Eastern and Western Cultures) and of Belarusians – a nation which has its rich European tradition.
Main Tasks of the Game:
I. To support students interest in learning more about their country and themselves, introducing Belarus to us and foreigners in a more modern, mobile and active way. (That's why the Internet-Game is organized in three languages – Belarusian, Russian, English).
II. To raise young people's awareness about history and culture of Belarus in the context of general history of Europe and other world cultures by means of intercultural and information exchange.
III. To gather young people willing to learn more about Belarus in the Internet and help those in finding resources that describe Belarus as an European country, member of international information society and active cell in the UN.
IV. To involve participants of the game into the work of iEARN-Belarus for their further interaction and cooperation.
Participants of the game
Participants of the game are young people - school and university students, who would like to conduct a research on his/her position in history and the world, and European Belarus.
The game is open both for individual and group participation.
Participants can be:
- teams of various educational institutions, non-governmental organizations and unions (of any age and religion);
- individual participants.
Participants must be:
- Be interested in becoming a researcher – a representative of a new generation, of a new society – Knowledge Society,
- Be interested in learning about themselves, their country as participants of various socio-cultural processes playing a valuable role in history making,
- Have access to email,
- Registered before the deadline (no later than 8pm a day before the actual game),
- Be connected to the Internet on the day of the game to receive the game’s tasks (by email or via the web) and send your answers after by email to the organizers.
Character and Themes of the Game assume that participants:
- Can orient in information space,
- Able to work with various sources of information,
- Able to compose their answers to defined questions,
- Able to conduct and reflect on mini-researches or would like to learn more about it within the game.
Technology
1. preparation:
- Defining the idea of the game’s session, tasks formulation, selection of experts for the game.
- Announcing theme and dates of the game.
- Registration of participants:
Participants:
- school teams forming / individual participants registration
- filling in the registration form,
- sending the registration form to the organizers – no later than 8 pm a day before the game starts.
When registering for the game please include the following:
- name and age of participants / name of your team, number of people and age of every participant,
- place of study / name of your educational institution,
- email address to contact the participating group/ individual for registration confirmation and to send the game’s task.
2. realization:
- On the day of the game all the tasks are simultaneously sent out to all registered participants to specified by them in the applications to electronic addresses.

- Using all accessible sources of information, participants conduct their researches to the tasks of the game, which attract them most and which they will manage to answer within the game’s limited time (participants of the game define order of performance of tasks and their amount independently).
Answers received after the deadline without explanation of the delay will not be accepted.
- When answering the questions participants of the game can consult a recommendation page on the website of the game.
3. Outcomes and Reflection:
- Game’s jury analyzes all the received materials and makes conclusions no later than 1 month from the game’s day.
- Prizes to every winner are defined prior to the game and listed in the game’s session description.
- All participants receive certificates of participation.
Participants answers should:
- Correspond to the general idea and tasks of the Game;
- include valuable arguments, are logical, correspond to given task,
- include original way of presenting information; illustrations are welcomed;
- list a direct link to a source of information being used
